About Juan Neri's birthdate
The highly respected Mexican musicologist Gustavo Leal Benavides, on his website Los 3 Ases, reports the most widely shared about the bounds of Juan Neri's biography.
“Juan Neri was born in Mexico City on June 24 and died on June 20, 1969 in the same city. We do not have the exact year of his birth, but at the time of his death, it was said that he was 42 years old, so he did die in 1969, aged 42, which indicates that he was born in 1927”.
On the beginning of March 2023, someone retrieved the Marriage Certificate of Juan Neri with the young Jovita Varela, and published it on the Internet. The event that occurred on August 12, 1947. And the certificate informs us that, on the day of his wedding, Juan Neri was 24 years old. So he was born in the year 1923.
Anita Neri, daughter of Juan Neri, told José Antonio López the following: “My father was an Aries and was born on March 23; However, we were never able to determine the exact year of his birth. To put it better, June 24 was not his date of birth but rather the date of his Saint.” search for new clues.
