History
Discos GAS was founded in 1971 by Guillermo Acosta Segura, former artistic director of Discos Musart. As an independent label, its catalog included artists such as Carlos Lico, the rock group Megaton, Pepe Vallejo's Sonora Veracruz, Amalia Mendoza, Yolanda del Río, Raúl Irigoyén, Alberto Vázquez, Gilberto Valenzuela "El Sahuaripa", Roberto Ledesma, Imelda Miller, Virginia López, and Manolo Muñoz.
The offices and recording studios of this record label were located on Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas in the Colonia Vallejo, in the north of Mexico City. Rocío Dúrcal recorded one of her most important albums at Discos GAS studios in 1984, although the album and she belonged to Ariola Records (BMG Music), now Sony Music. That album includes the duet "Déjame vivir" with Juan Gabriel, "Amor eterno," and "Costumbres."
