Cinram Anaheim
~ Pressing plant
Annotation
Disc manufacturing plant in Anaheim, California. Production of video discs started in January 1986.
1986 to Jan 1988 - LaserVideo, Inc., Anaheim
Anaheim was one of two plants owned by LaserVideo, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Chicago company Quixote. The sister plant in Huntsville started production of audio discs in autumn 1986.
The matrix of Laservideo releases contains a sequential 4 or 5 digit number with the prefix WO# or CI.
1988 to Apr 1990 - Disctronics A
On January 15, 1988, after a period of negotiations with the Quixote Corporation, Disctronics Limited purchased its two LaserVideo, Inc. plants (Huntsville and Anaheim) which then became known as Disctronics Manufacturing, Inc.
For releases pressed at this plant a typical matrix is: MADE BY DISCTRONICS (A) W.O. 123456-1 ABCD1234
An (A) in the matrix runout indicates the disc was pressed at the Anaheim location. The internal identifier for their CD's is the "W.O." (Work Order) number seen in the matrix, followed by a dash and the master cut number; in the example above it is: 123456-1. Following the W.O. number is the customer (normally catalogue) number; in the example above it is: ABCD1234.
May 1990 to Mar 1997 - Disc Manufacturing, Inc., Anaheim
After Disctronics failed to pay the remaining balance after the sale, both plants were acquired back by the Quixote Corporation on April 30, 1990, where the name was then changed from Disctronics Manufacturing, Inc., to Disc Manufacturing, Inc..
An example for a typical matrix is: DISC MFG., INC. (A) W.O. 123456-1 ABCD1234
If there is a number present together with the plant letter, example: (A5), this represents both the plant location and Laser Beam Recorder (LBR) that cut the master.
In rare cases the abbreviation DMI can be found on the discs.
Mar 1997 to 2001 - Cinram, Anaheim
On December 8, 1996, Quixote Corporation entered into the negotiation process of selling the two pressing plants to Cinram Ltd. The purchase by Cinram was completed March 27th 1997. After the sale, matrices no longer included any references to DMI or Disc Mfg., Inc.
The Anaheim plant was later closed in 2001.
