The Bondi Cigars have been an institution on the Sydney, Australia scene since their formation in 1989. Initially, they were pretty much touted as a rock band with a slight leaning towards blues music but their development over the years clearly shows a band with a full tilt at blues with the occasional venture into rock.
This album comprises 30 tracks lifted off their previous albums along with two previously unreleased (at the time of this release) tracks. Shane Pacey, one of the original founding members, has penned 26 of the tracks and clearly shows why he is just about the best writer of blues in Australia.
The best part about his writing is that every song is different. There is not a sameness with each which can occur when one member pens most of the songs on an album. It is an absolute delight to listen to his mastery of songwriting. This two-CD album could quite easily be sub-titled “the best of the best” as it is a superb feast of blues music.
