Annotation

The CD artwork and booklet states that this recording used the Carragan Edition of the Symphony No 4. In actual fact, it used the Nowak Edition of 1953 for the first three movements, and only used the Carragan Edition for the Volksfest-Finale.

(In reality, the Carragan edition is extremely similar to the Nowak edition, comprising only some minor touch-ups, none of which are notably audible. But for whatever reason, Schaller chose not to use any of use of them in the first three movements, in effect adhering to Nowak.)
