Stereo Mixes & Mastering: Prof. Stoned (Jan 2023)

v1.0: 29-01-2023
v1.1: 13-08-2024: "You Won't See Me" & "The Word" revisited; piano and rhythm guitar now seperated in stereo, which I think is a pretty crucial improvement.

Original credits:

John Lennon – lead, harmony and backing vocals; rhythm, acoustic and lead guitars; organ on "Think for Yourself"; tambourine
Paul McCartney – lead, harmony and backing vocals; bass, acoustic and lead guitars; piano; maracas
George Harrison – lead, harmony and backing vocals; lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars; sitar on "Norwegian Wood"; maracas, tambourine
Ringo Starr – drums, tambourine, maracas, cowbell, bells, cymbals; Hammond organ on "I'm Looking Through You"; lead vocals on "What Goes On"

Additional personnel:

George Martin – production, mixing; piano on "In My Life", harmonium on "The Word" and "If I Needed Someone"
Mal Evans – Hammond organ on "You Won't See Me"
Norman Smith – engineering, mixing
Robert Freeman – photography
Charles Front – illustration

Note:

This new version continues the trend started with the AHDN/BFS/HLP! remixes. It aims to bring a more balanced presentation with coherent stereo image. Purists should stay away.

The sixth Beatles album might just be my personal favorite. It is a bridge between the euphoria of the first period and the sophistication of the latter era. A masterpiece.
