Voices: A Contemporary Choral Collection

~ Veröffentlichung von Various Artists (alle Versionen dieser Veröffentlichung ansehen, eine vorhanden)

Anmerkung

This release has not been editing according to CSG because it's the performers, not the composers, who are highlighted here. The works are choral arrangements of traditional and folk tunes, and some pieces that seem to have been composed specifically for this release. The main track list on the back cover lists the performers with no mention of composers or arrangers, and has the following statements alongside it:

"Four of the country's leading vocal ensembles are captured in this moving, accessible survey of American choral music."

"This album serves as a perfect introduction to the unparalleled beauty and power of the human voice."

I believe there are at least two significant typos in the liner notes:

First, Linden Lea is credited to Douglas E. Warner as the arranger. I can't find any reference to Douglas E. Warner except in relation to this album. There is a well-known and published choral arranger Douglas E. Wagner, whose works include Linden Lea. In this case, I gave the credit to Wagner, because the difference is one letter, the circumstantial evidence is compelling, and he already has similar credits in the database.

Second, the St. Olaf Chior is supposed to have been recorded at Bethany Lutheran Church in Northfield, MN. There is, as far as I can tell, no Bethany Lutheran Church in Northfield, MN. There is, however, a Bethel Lutheran Church. Since St. Olaf College is in Northfield, my sense is the city is correct and Bethany should have been Bethel. However, it's uncertain enough that I created it as credited and put this information in the annotation.
