Annotation
The Boston Tapes are the first official recordings Nektar made, which was in Boston, 22 June 1970. Shortly afterwards, the band was contracted by Bellaphon records, who bought the recordings and the rights and let Nektar record Journey to the Centre of the Eye, shelving the Boston tapes project.
These recordings were remastered by the band in 2006 for a release on their Collectors Corner series, a sort of fanclub subscription series. Although it was meant to be download-only, some CDs were printed (although it might be a CDRs with silk-print label). No cover was made at the time. The Collectors Corner ceased to exist not long afterwards, so this release is extremely rare.
The recordings, however, were released as bonus tracks on the Remember the Future re-issue (SHM CD + CD, Belle 132131-2, Japan, 2013).
The mastering for this edition has severe errors in that at the end of each song, there are 2 seconds of silence that in several cases were timed incorrectly. The last notes of track one are at the beginning of CD track 2, with 2 seconds of silence cutting the fade-out of the song. Mastering on later issues (as mentioned above) have other mastering errors: the volume is too loud.
The bonus tracks are completely unrelated. They were recorded live in 2004 or 2005 with the lineup of Roye Albrighton, Ron Howden, Randy Dembo, and Tom Hughes.
