"Although a recitative version does indeed survive for ‘But who may abide’, this is found in sources considerably later than those used for Dublin, and may well be of doubtful authenticity. ... For this recording, we have decided to adopt the full bass version of the aria in the sequence of the recording, placing the surviving recitative version in the appendix of disc 1."
