The recording location is in doubt (the same goes for the orchestra) because there are two conflicting sources:

Scottish-born Muir Mathieson was hired to conduct Vertigo after a musicians' strike in Los Angeles prevented the score from being recorded there. However, the score couldn't be completed in London, either, because the English musicians decided to strike in support of their American counterparts. Thus, the scoring team was forced to relocate in Vienna during the middle of the sessions.
